Australian graphene ultracapacitor startup joins world’s top innovators at global tech stage

Melbourne, Australia – October 2025.
EnyGy has been selected to participate in TechCrunch Disrupt 2025’s Startup Battlefield 200 (SB200), the world’s leading startup showcase, taking place in San Francisco from 27–29 October. Out of thousands of global applicants, EnyGy is one of only 200 startups chosen to exhibit and pitch its next-generation graphene ultracapacitor technology to investors, media, and industry leaders.
“This recognition places EnyGy on a world stage among the most innovative startups of 2025,” said Wiehann de Klerk, CEO of EnyGy. “Our technology fundamentally redefines what ultracapacitors can do, delivering significantly higher energy density through advanced graphene-based materials that integrate seamlessly into modern energy systems.”
Breaking the Energy-Density Barrier
Ultracapacitors are fast-charging energy devices used in electric vehicles, renewable-energy systems, industrial sensors, and countless other applications where quick bursts of power are critical. For more than four decades, their performance has been limited by the use of traditional activated-carbon electrodes.
EnyGy’s graphene electrode technology breaks this long-standing limitation, offering higher energy density, improved conductivity, and longer cycle life without adding significant cost. Early testing with industry partners has validated performance exceeding 20–25 F/cm³ volumetric capacitance and over 2,000 hours of endurance at 2.7 V / 65 °C, up to double that of leading commercial products.
Taking Australian Innovation Global
From its Melbourne base, EnyGy is developing scalable manufacturing pathways for its advanced electrode materials and building partnerships to enable integration into global energy-storage supply chains.
“TechCrunch Disrupt is the perfect platform to connect with investors and strategic partners who can accelerate the global impact of Australian clean-tech innovation,” de Klerk said. “We’re excited to showcase how our graphene technology pushes the boundaries of performance and sustainability.”
